Microsoft cloud gaming

When one thinks of advanced gaming experience then the first thing which comes to his mind is buying a gaming console like the PlayStation or Xbox. But you should know that there are various gaming services which are capable of streaming games directly without any expensive and advanced gaming console. And by keeping such advance concept in mind, Microsoft has finally announced its entrance into the cloud gaming world.

This week, Microsoft announced its new cloud gaming division which will be led by Kareem Choudhry who has been a part of the Microsoft for more than 20 years. Kareem Choudhry has also worked on projects such as Xbox Engineering, DirectX and Outlook. Mr. Choudhry will report to the recently appointed gaming head Phil Spencer.

Microsoft is hoping that with the advancement of time, more players will move to the cloud because it will have several benefits like the ease of multiplayer mode. You should know that Ubisoft is already using Microsoft’s Azure cloud service for its Rainbow six: Siege title across PC, Xbox and PS4.

In an interview Verge technology website, Kareem Choudhry explained a bit more about the new cloud gaming platform “Phil really wanted a dedicated team focused exclusively on the gaming cloud. Those were conversations that started happening last summer, and we really started creating the structure of the organization at the end of last year. We believe there is going to be 2 billion gamers in the world, and our goal is to reach every one of them’

It is being expected that Microsoft will be creating services which will allow games to be streamed on devices. With the processing part being completed in the cloud streaming, the game will be lag free and will be able to run seamlessly on even the smallest devices such as smartphone and tablets. If you want to get more information on the cloud gaming technology then you can go to the verge website for analyzing the full interview with Kareem Choudhry.

But this is not a sudden move by Microsoft as it was preparing for it from a long time. Microsoft has been acquiring many gaming related companies from a long time. In the year 2105, it acquired Havok, then in 2017, it acquired Simplygon and in 2018, it added PlayFab to its list of acquisitions. Although you might have not heard about most of these companies but Microsoft strategy to enter into the gaming was very clear as it has been reshuffling its gaming team as the company prepares to launch its own cloud gaming services.

Phil Spencer directly reports to the CEO of the company, Satyam Nadella.

It is very much important to have a Netflix for gaming but you should also know that it is not going to be an easy task for Microsoft as there are some strong contenders in the gaming industry like PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
